The grandchildren are coping with my mom's passing in their own ways.

A week after Mama's death, my three-year-old niece asked if she could see Mama, but her five-year-old brother told her that Mama lives in  Heaven now. Then she asked, "Can I ask Jesus if I could come and see Grandma?"

Last week they went apple-picking and my niece said she'll take an apple for my mom.  Her brother told her that she doesn't have to give Mama an apple because Jesus will feed Mama.

They hold brief conversations about Mama.

I like the innocence that our children display.  I guess sometime--in the future--they'll get over not seeing their grandma or they'll understand more.  When?
